Mind to Heart

Scientifically speaking, though the mind and heart are separate body organs and are located away from each other, they are intrinsically connected and significantly impact the functioning of each other. Spiritually speaking, the mind represents rational thinking and the heart represents thinking with feeling and emotions.

Mind and heart well being is imperative for peace of mind, good health and wellness. While society has placed a lot of importance on educating the mind in terms of academic achievements, there is growing emphasis on educating the heart as well. Mind and heart learning go hand in hand.

Educating the heart is thinking from the heart and how we ‘feel’. It is about aligning our thoughts and perspectives with inner feeling and managing our reactions taking into account our feelings, experiences and emotions.

Involving the heart along with the mind in dealings and decision making brings an increased sense of peace, security and calmness. Being relaxed while managing situations and working with people makes others calm and harbours a harmonious relationship and atmosphere.

The heart involvement also makes it easy to get along well with others and enhanced people skills. People like you, they want to work with you and trust you more. You make more friends and have someone to fall back on in times of need.

Mind to Heart movement in terms of reactions and involvement requires practice, patience and understanding. It makes you more alert, engaged and helps you master self control. You become more compassionate, kind and empathetic towards people and yourself. You also begin solving problems peacefully and fairly, keeping all perspectives and the interests of everyone in mind.

Learn and practice the art of graduating from only mind thinking to heart thinking. Make conscious efforts to pause, think and introspect before speaking out. Observe, go within and take your time. Conquer people, the world and life this way.
